Adult Development and Work

This course provides an understanding of career development theories and decision-making models; occupational, educational information sources and systems; assessment instruments and techniques relevant to career planning and decision making, career, lifestyle, and leisure counseling; guidance and education; career development program planning; resources; and effectiveness evaluation. (3 credits)

Systems Theory

Organizations are living systems. To work and improve organizations, we need to understand them as systems. This course focuses on the investigation and applications of Open Systems Theory. The importance of the input->throughput->output flow will be assessed within the scope of boundaries and the environment as well as feedback and interdependencies. Specific attention will be given to the different functions for internal operations that are necessary for maintenance and equilibrium. Organizations and teams will be the main focus but the obvious connections to any group or family will be addressed. (3 credits)

Virtual and Global Leadership

This course provides students with the techniques for structuring, managing, and motivating teams that reside in virtual environments. Topics include challenges of leading a virtual team with members in various geographical locations, virtual team structure, effective multi-cultural communication, motivation and performance considerations, and knowledge sharing in a virtual, distributed team.


Students who enter the program post-baccalaureate will complete two 300-credit hour internships (for a total of 600 hours of internship experience). The internship should involve the student in learning specific, transferable, I/O-relevant or HR-relevant professional skills. All internship must be pre-approved by the faculty internship supervisor.

Completion of the dissertation is an essential aspect of Business Psychology students’ academic experience and professional education. It provides the school the opportunity to evaluate the student’s ability to think critically and creatively about an applied issue in business psychology and to produce new research in the field. The dissertation should clearly and concisely demonstrate the student’s command of the research in a specific area of business psychology that relates to industrial organizational psychology. In the dissertation, will conduct empirical research using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods to produce new knowledge within the theoretical framework that comprises the Ph.D. Business Psychology curriculum.


Application to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Business Psychology doctoral program is open to any person who has earned a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 36 hours in psychology, behavioral science or management. Students applying to the Ph.D. in Business Psychology program must submit the following:

  • Essay – Please answer the following two questions on separate sheets of paper (approximately 500 words each):
    • In what areas (e.g., selection and placement, organizational development, performance management) will you, as a business psychologist, affect or contribute to the business world? How will your contributions differ from those with an M.B.A. or other business training?
    • In your role as a business psychology student, you are likely to work and study with people from many backgrounds. Tell us what will be some of the challenges for you studying with people different from yourself, and what you would contribute in your interactions with them.
  • Official College/University Transcripts
    • Students must submit official transcripts from all schools where degrees have been earned. The Chicago School requires that all schools be regionally accredited higher education institutions. Official transcripts may be sent directly from the institution or with your application for admission as long as they are official, sealed, and signed across the envelope flap when they arrive.
  • Previous Coursework
    • Bachelor or Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Psychology, the Behavioral Sciences, or Management
      • Student’s entering post-masters must have a master’s degree equivalent to 36 semester hours, and:
      • 21 hours of the following IO Psychology graduate courses:
        • Principles of Industrial Psychology
        • Selection
        • Two internship courses or an Applied Project/Thesis equivalent
        • Performance Appraisal
        • Training
        • Surveys
      • 3 letters of recommendation from academic professors or professional or volunteer experience supervisors.
      • Official GRE Score (Post-Bachelor entry point applicants only, not required of applicants holding a conferred master’s degree)
      • Generally, an undergraduate or graduate GPA of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required for admission to the school’s Business Psychology doctoral program.
      • Depending on the number of hours an applicant is missing, these prerequisite requirements can be fulfilled at the Chicago School prior to admission to the Ph.D. Business Psychology (I/O Track) program by enrolling in the Industrial and Organizational Psychology Generalist Certificate.  Prerequisites for admission may also be fulfilled at the Chicago School by successfully completing comparable coursework following the policies outlined in the Student at Large section of the catalog.

Ph.D. Business Psychology: I/O Track Progression Requirements
This program requires applicants to have successfully completed (with a grade earned of “C” or better) at least two (2) undergraduate courses by the end of their first semester (second online term) of study. One (1) course must be in statistics, and at least one (1) course must be an upper level undergraduate or master’s level organizational behavior or psychology course.  Students must successfully meet this progression requirement through the following options:

  • A grade of “C” or higher in TCS 380 Introduction to Psychology and TCS 390 Introduction to Statistics;
  • A grade of “C” or higher in a comparable course(s) at the Chicago School; or
  • A grade of “C” or higher in a comparable course(s) at another regionally accredited institution

Applicants accepted who are missing one or both of the two (2) courses will be required to register for the applicable TCS course(s) in their first ground semester or online term. All students must meet this progression requirement by the end of their first semester (second online term) of study. Students who do not successfully fulfill this requirement will not be allowed to register in any future coursework in the program of study until this requirement is met. Extensions can be granted by the Program Chair or designee when extenuating circumstances prevent completion of the requirement in the specified timeframe.  Requests for an extension must be submitted in writing to the Program Chair for consideration.

About the Blended Course Format

What is the Statement of Cash Flows Indirect Method?

The statement of cash flows prepared using the indirect method adjusts net income for the changes in balance sheet accounts to calculate the cash from operating activities. In other words, changes in asset and liability accounts that affect cash balances throughout the year are added to or subtracted from net income at the end of the period to arrive at the operating cash flow.

The operating activities section is the only difference between the direct and indirect methods. The direct method lists all receipts and payments of cash from individual sources to compute operating cash flows. This is not only difficult to create; it also requires a completely separate reconciliation that looks very similar to the indirect method to prove the operating activities section is accurate.

Companies tend to prefer the indirect presentation to the  direct method  because the information needed to create this report is readily available in any accounting system. In fact, you don’t even need to go into the bookkeeping software to create this report. All you need is a comparative income statement. Let’s take a look at the format and how to prepare an indirect method cash flow statement.


Format

The indirect operating activities section always starts out with the net income for the period followed by non-cash expenses, gains, and losses that need to be added back to or subtracted from  net income . These non-cash activities typically include:

  • Depreciation expense
  • Amortization expense
  • Depletion expense
  • Gains or Losses from sale of assets
  • Losses from accounts receivable

The non-cash expenses and losses must be added back in and the gains must be subtracted.

The next section of the operating activities adjusts net income for the changes in  asset accounts  that affected cash. These accounts typically include:

  • Accounts receivable
  • Inventory
  • Prepaid expenses
  • Receivables from employees and owners

This is where preparing the indirect method can get a little confusing. You need to think about how changes in these accounts affect cash in order to identify what way income needs to be adjusted. When an asset increases during the year, cash must have been used to purchase the new asset. Thus, a net increase in an asset account actually decreased cash, so we need to subtract this increase from the net income. The opposite is true about decreases. If an asset account decreases, we will need to add this amount back into the income. Here’s a general rule of thumb when preparing an indirect cash flow statement:

Asset account increases: subtract amount from income
Asset account decreases: add amount to income

The last section of the operating activities adjusts net income for changes in  liability accounts  affected by cash during the year. Here are some of the accounts that usually are used:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accrued expenses

Get ready. If you weren’t confused by the assets part, you might be for the liabilities section. Since liabilities have a credit balance instead of a debit balance like asset accounts, the liabilities section works the opposite of the assets section. In other words, an increase in a liability needs to be added back into income. This makes sense. Take accounts payable for example. If accounts payable increased during the year, it means we purchased something without using cash. Thus, this amount should be added back. Here’s a basic tip that you can use for all liability accounts:

Liability account increases: add amount from income
Liability account decreases: subtract amount to income

All of these adjustments are totaled to adjust the net income for the period to match the cash provided by operating activities.


Example

It might be helpful to look at an example of what the indirect method actually looks like.

As you can see, the operating section always lists net income first followed by the adjustments for expenses, gains, losses, asset accounts, and liability accounts respectively.

Although most standard setting bodies prefer the direct method, companies use the indirect method almost exclusively. It’s easier to prepare, less costly to report, and less time consuming to create than the direct method. Standard setting bodies prefer the direct because it provides more information for the external users, but companies don’t like it because it requires an additional reconciliation be included in the report. Since the indirect method acts as a reconciliation itself, it’s far less work for companies to simply prepare this report instead.

Executive Summary

A proposal is a request for financial assistance to implement a project. The proposal outlines the plan of the implementing organisation about the project, giving extensive information about the intention, for implementing it, the ways to manage it and the results to be delivered from it (FUNDS FOR NGOS 2010).The following guidelines are designed to help you prepare your full proposal. How well you plan the action is critical to the success of the project.

A project proposal is a detailed description of a series of activities aimed at solving a certain problem (NEBIU 2002).  In order to be successful, the document should (REPOA 2007):

  • provide a logical presentation of a research idea
  • illustrate the significance of the idea
  • show the idea’s relationship to past actions
  • articulate the activities for the proposed project

Designing a project is a process consisting of two elements, which are equally important and thus essential to forming a solid project proposal:

  • project planning (formulation of project elements)
  • proposal writing (converting the plan into a project document)

The project proposal should be a detailed and directed manifestation of the project design. It is a means of presenting the project to the outside world in a format that is immediately recognised and accepted.

  • From vision to proposal: The first step is to decide what the problem is and develop a rough idea (vision) of how this could be solved. This vision is then to be transformed into an idea for a specific project proposal. A logical framework may help you to structure this idea in a systematic way, and clearly define the aim, purpose, outputs, activities, means, costs and the methodologies for monitoring and evaluation , and will thus from the basis for the preparation of the narrative of the proposal. Remember that your idea may have to fit certain requirements if you are answering to a call for proposals, and that it must also fit local policies and frameworks .
  • Identify potential funding options : It is necessary to find out in advance what sources of funding are available, through governments, international cooperation agencies, some international NGOs or private foundations.
  • Build a project proposal team (adapted from PHILIP et al. 2008): a leader will be needed to manage the proposal development in an efficient way, and therefore it is advisable to assign the lead role to one specific person. This person is then responsible for the coordination of the overall proposal development, for communication with potential funders and for making sure that all different pieces of input are brought together in a consistent and coherent text. Experts with more detailed technical knowledge might be part of the team, or simply contribute to an initial brainstorming session. Furthermore, the budget should be compiled in close cooperation with staff from the financial department. Input from stakeholders or other specialists with different backgrounds helps bring in the necessary expertise to the project.
  • Hold a kick-off meeting: It is helpful to discuss and develop the proposal in a small team and share drafts with experts of all relevant disciplines not just from within the administration, but also from outside it. “The requirements of content and format of proposals differ noticeably from one sponsoring agency to another. While some may provide their own application forms to be filled, and others may request on-line submission of proposals, others will accept a proposal in any format as long as it features the necessary information, and does not contradict their conditions” (AUB 2010).

A full proposal should have the following parts:

  • Title page: A title page should appear on proposals longer than three to four pages. The title page should indicate the project title, the name of the lead organisation (and potential partners, if any), the place and date of project preparation and the name of the donor agency to whom the proposal is addressed.
  • Project title: The project title should be short, concise, and preferably refer to a certain key project result or the leading project activity. Project titles that are too long or too general fail to give the reader an effective snapshot of what is inside.
  • Abstract/Executive Summary: Many readers lack the time needed to read the whole project proposal. It is therefore useful to insert a short project summary, an abstract or executive summary. The abstract should include: the problem statement, the project’s objectives, implementing organisations; key project activities; and potentially the total project budget. Theoretically, the abstract should be compiled after the relevant items already exist in their long form. For a small project the abstract may not be longer than 10 lines. Bigger projects often provide abstracts as long as two pages.
  • Context: This part of the project describes the social, economic, political and cultural background from which the project is initiated. It should contain relevant data from research carried out in the project planning phase or collected from other sources.
  • Project justification: A rationale should be provided for the project. Due to its importance, this section is sometimes divided into four or more sub-sections:
    • Problem statement: The problem statement provides a description of the specific problem(s) the project is trying to solve, in order to “make a case” for the project. Furthermore, the project proposal should point out why a certain issue is a problem for the community or society as a whole, i.e. what negative implications affect the target group. There should also be an explanation of the needs of the target group that appear as a direct consequence of the described problem.
    • Priority needs: The needs of the target group that have arisen as a direct negative impact of the problem should be prioritised. An explanation as to how this decision was reached must also be included.
    • The proposed approach (type of intervention): The project proposal should describe the strategy chosen for solving the problem and precisely how it will lead to improvement.
    • The implementing organisation: This section should describe the capabilities of your organisation by referring to its capacity and previous project record. Describe why exactly your organisation is the most appropriate to run the project, its connexion to the local community, the constituency behind the organisation and what kind of expertise the organisation can provide. If other partners are involved in implementation provide some information on their capacity as well.
    • Project aims: This information should be obtained from the Logframe Matrix, including the project goal (a general aim that should explain what the core problem is and why the project is important, i.e. what the long-term benefits to the target group are), project purpose (that should address the core problem in terms of the benefits to be received by the project beneficiaries or target group as a direct result of the project) and the outputs (i.e. results describe the services or products to be delivered to the intended beneficiaries).
  • Target group: define the target group and show how it will benefit from the project. The project should provide a detailed description of the size and characteristics of the target groups, and especially of direct project beneficiaries.
  • Project implementation : The implementation plan should describe activities and resource allocation in as much detail as possible. It is exceptionally important to provide a good overview of who is going to implement the project’s activities, as well as when and where. The implementation plan may be divided into two key elements: the activity plan and the resource plan. The activity plan should include specific information and explanations of each of the planned project activities. The duration of the project should be clearly stated, with considerable detail on the beginning and the end of the project. In general, two main formats are used to express the activity plan: a simple table (a simple table with columns for activities, sub-activities, tasks, timing and responsibility in  a clear and readily understandable format) and the Gantt chart (a universal format for presenting activities in certain times frames, shows the dependence and sequence for each activity, see project management for more info. The resource plan should provide information on the means necessary to undertake the project. Cost categories are established at this stage in order to aggregate and summarise the cost information for budgeting.
  • Budget : An itemised summary of an organisation’s expected income and expenses over a specified period of time.
  • Monitoring and evaluation : The basis for monitoring is set when the indicators for results are set. The project proposal should indicate: how and when the project management team will conduct activities to monitor the project’s progress; which methods will be used to monitor and evaluate; and who will do the evaluation.
  • Reporting : The schedule of project progress and financial report could be set in the project proposal. Often these obligations are determined by the standard requirements of the donor agency. The project report may be compiled in different versions, with regard to the audience they are targeting.
  • Management and personnel: A brief description should be given of the project personnel, the individual roles each one has assumed, and the communication mechanisms that exist between them. All the additional information (such as CVs) should be attached to the annexes.

  • Plan ahead. Allow plenty of time for those involved to meet, discuss , and review progress in the grant writing process. Also, allow enough time to get the required signatures and to get the proposal to the funder.
  • Make it a team effort. Assign specific roles and responsibilities to people in terms of developing the proposal.
  • Be realistic in what you are proposing. What can reasonably be accomplished in the scope time and resources of this grant?
  • Be a learning organisation. Learn from your own and others experiences with the same donor! Read the reviews of other proposals that have been submitted to the same donor if is possible.
  • Be factual and specific. Don’t talk in generalities or in emotional terms. Be sure to substantiate all statements in your proposal, otherwise don’t make them.
  • Limit technical and organisational jargon. Use language anyone will understand — no abbreviations, initials, or jargon. Don’t assume the reader will understand your acronyms or abbreviations, and also make sure to include an acronyms page.
  • Call the donor if you have questions. Realise that many others will be calling as well and don’t wait until the last minute.
  • Consider collaborating with other organisations. At a minimum, find out what other proposals are being submitted to the same donor at the same time.
  • Clarify partner’s roles and responsibilities. When collaborating with partners, be sure you have determined who will be responsible for what. After the project is funded, it is not the time to discover there were differing opinions.
  • Choose a format that is clear and easy to read. Readers are overloaded with proposals and appreciate legible, attractive proposals. Make sure tables are legible and easy to figure out.
  • Keep within page limits. Stick to the specified number of pages. Extra pages or attachments may either be removed before the proposal is read, or may disqualify your entire proposal from the reading process.
  • Be aware of donor priorities. Carefully match your project with an appropriate funding source. The primary difference between successful grant writing and inefficient proposal submission is the amount of time invested in the strategic identification of appropriate funders.
  • Use action words when writing your proposal, such as achieve, engage, begin, compare, evaluate, exhibit, offer, lead, involve, organise, prepare, research, restore, reveal, support, demonstrate, define, implement, instruct, produce, validate, verify, test, recognise, use, etc.
Applicability

Proposals are prepared to apply for external funds for the implementation of a project. Most grant applications ask for the same information, but they often have different formats. Some will have a list of questions. Others will ask for a “narrative” — the story of your project.

The Miss Pennsylvania competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Pennsylvania in the Miss America pageant. Pennsylvania, including early years’ city representatives, has won the Miss America crown on 5 occasions.

Originally held in Hershey , the pageant moved to West Chester where pageants were held during the 1950s. The pageant was held in Altoona from 1974. In 1994, Easton was chosen as the new venue of the pageant and the date was shifted from June to May. In November 2008, the pageant was moved to the Pittsburgh area.

Kayla Repasky of Gettysburg was crowned Miss Pennsylvania 2018 on June 23, 2018 at The Hillman Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . She will compete for the title of Miss America 2019 on September 9, 2018 in Atlantic City, New Jersey .

            Successfully complete Chapter 1 and unlock the outskirt in Flipside to unlock Flipside’s Pit Of 100 Trials.

            Pit Of 100 Trials bonuses

            Successfully complete the Pit Of 100 Trials in Flopside twice to get the Bowser, Dark Bowser, Luigi, Dark Luigi, Mario, Dark Mario, Peach, and Dark Peach cards.

            Hidden mini-games

            While in the coffee shop in Flipside B1, enter 3-D mode to access a gold pipe that will take you to an arcade with three mini-games that use different functions of the Wii-mote. You can win prizes for top scores. A fourth game can be unlocked if you have a Gold Card.

            Flipside’s Basement extra mini-game

            Get the Golden card to unlock Flipside’s Basement extra mini-game.

            Inifinite 3-D mode with Mario

            Successfully complete the Pit Of 100 Trials in Flopside twice to get Mario’s card. This card allows you to enable 3-D mode for an unlimited amount of time.

            Easy experience

            After you complete Chapter 5, go back to Chapter 5-4. Go to the pipe that Sapiens keep coming out of, then jump on the block next to it and use Bowser’s flame. He will keep killing all the Sapiens that come out. You can get 7,500 to 10,000 experience points every minute.

            Get 500 Coins, then go to the Flopside and buy a special item that is 500 Coins and gives 10,000 experience points. Do not use it yet. Go to a world with a Slow Mo or Speed Up Flower and get one. Then, use it. You will get 30,000 experience points instead of 10,000 experience points.

            Easy Rubees

            Buy a lot of Catch-Cards; SPs are optional. Go to a level with Amazee Dazees (the flowers that shoot music notes). Catch as many as you can. Each Amazee Dazee card is worth 300 Coins.

            Buy a lot of Life Shrooms in World 1-2. Cook them, then sell them in Flipside for 96 Coins each.

            While in the VIP room, start spinning on the gerbil wheel, then jump to the right and run to the left. If you are still on the side, hold Down. If done correctly, you should be sliding and moving faster. This is helpful to getting a lot of Rubees.

            Dashell Pixl

            After completing the Pit Of 100 Trials in Flipside, you will fight a dragon, Wrecktail. This is a new version of the first Boss, with the same attacks and same way to defeat it. Once you defeat Wrecktail, you will get a new Pixl, Dashell, who allows you to run at very high speeds.

            Piccolo Pixl

            To get the Piccolo Pixl, you first must be able to visit Flopside. Visit Merlee on the second floor of Flopside and talk to her on the opposite side of the crystal ball. Next, talk to Merluvee in Flipside. Talk to Bestovious in Lineland. Talk to Watchitt in Yold. Then, give what Watchitt gave you to Bestovious. Give what Bestovious gave you to Merluvee. Give what Merluvee gave you to Merlee to get a key. Finally, go to the first floor of Flipside and open the locked door near the card shop. Go inside the house and open the treasure chest to get the Piccolo Pixl. Piccolo puts enemies to sleep. There are also special walls with a drawing of him engraved on it; you can use him to make the walls disappear, revealing secret items.

              Barry: Shield yourself from enemy attacks and also counterattack.
              Boomer: Blow up objects.
              Carrie: Platform that can get you across dangerous areas.
              Cudge: Use a hammer.
              Dashell: Run fast.
              Dottie: Shrink yourself.
              Fleep: Flip objects that are stuck in the wrong dimension.
              Piccolo: Play special music that disintegrates certain objects.
              Slim: Turn sideways and squeeze through very narrow spaces.
              Thoreau: Pick up objects then toss them.
              Thudley: Shake the ground.
              Tippi: Use the your Wii-mote sensor to scan objects to learn about them and reveal hidden things.

            Free hints

            Whenever you get stuck, save the game near your current location. Then, take the return pipe back to Flipside and go to the fortune teller. Once you have your hint, press Home and reset the game. You will return to your save where you were stuck and the price of the fortune teller’s services will never go up.

            Style moves

            After landing on an enemy to do damage, you can twist the Wii-mote in your hands and shake it to execute Style moves. Holding Jump during this attack will cause you to jump higher, thus giving you more time to shake and line up for a follow up attack. The more Style moves you do in a row, the higher your multiplier will be. This will greatly increase the pace at which you gain levels.

            Tiptron

            At the end of the game, you will not have Tippi anymore. If you want a robotic version of Tippi, go to Chapter 3-4 (Fort Francis), and buy Tiptron for 999 Coins. Tiptron has the same advantages as Tippi. You can use him the same way and shows you the same things.

            Throw Boomer

            You must first have the exploding Pixl, Boomer. Set him down, then quickly go to the menu, and select the hand Pixl, Thoreau. Pick up Boomer, and you will be able to throw him at enemies or anything that looks like it could be blown up.

            Shortcut in Chapter 3-1

            In Chapter 3-1, there is an underground portion. Near the end, there are elevators going up. Ride them up and walk along the top. You will come to an area with three warp pipes. Take the middle one to end up much closer to Bowser’s castle.

            Getting the Space Helmet in Chapter 4-1

            When you first enter the door to Chapter 4-1, you will not be able to breathe and need to find a Space Helmet. Exit and see Merlon. He will tell you he has something, but realizes he gave it away. Go to the third floor in Flipside to find a kid holding a fishbowl. Speak to him and he will give it to you, but you must first find a place to release the fish. Go to Flipside B1. Go to the right until you find a body of water. A dialogue will appear, asking if you want to release him. Say “Yes” and he will be released. Go back to Chapter 4-1 and you will be asked if want to use the helmet. Say “Yes” and you can continue.

            Locked room in Merlee’s mansion

            When you have to pay 1,000,000 Rubees, earn 100 Rubees then find a man in red. Give him the 100 Rubees to get the code to get in the VIP room. Then, get 10,000 Rubees and give it to another person in red. Note: You must flip to find this one. He will give you the code to the safe, but you will need a certain Pixl to get to it. To save money, the code to the VIP room is “5963” and the safe is “41262816“.

            Guessing the real Merlee

            When you have to choose between the two Merlees, the real one will have a fly going around it from hiding in the toilet.

            Defeating Mr. L

            When fighting Mr. L, if you lose too much HP and do not have any healing items, use Thoreau as your Pixl, and wait for Mr. L to use a Shroom Shake. Just when he holds it over his head, use Thoreau on Mr. L. If timed correctly, you will steal the shake from him. This can be repeated times as desired.

            Mario series reference

            Enter Room 2828 in the Castle Of Francis to find action figures and posters from other Mario games.

            Wii reference

            When you enter Francis’ room (with the password “2828“), turn 3-D and look at the far wall and the television. Look to the left, and you will see a Nintendo Wii system with a few games. It even has the sensor bar at the top of the television.

Leading scholars in a wide range of academic fields teach much of the HEMA curriculum.               How to Create, Share & Track Content Packs in Salesforce

              My dad had a Swiss Army knife. When we were kids, we watched him start a fire, repair a tent, re-hang a door, and open a bottle of wine with that thing. It was always accompanied by much swearing as he tried to figure out which doo-hickey he needed for the job, and then tried to get that tool out of the knife.

               

               

              Salesforce is like the Swiss Army knife of customer relationship management. There’s so much you can do with it beyond tracking leads, contacts, accounts, and opportunities. In fact, many companies are only using about a tenth of the platform’s capabilities. Why you ask? Well, figuring out how to use it requires either a degree in nuclear physics or a Certified Salesforce Administrator. Luckily for our clients, we’ve done our homework and passed that test! 

              One of my favourite hidden secrets of Salesforce is its robust content management capabilities, so that’s what we’re going to focus on today.

              In this tutorial blog, you’ll learn how to:

              • Create pre-approved content libraries in Salesforce
                 

              • Enable sales reps to package their own content and share it via a single link
                 
              • Track when contacts have opened and downloaded the content

              Didn’t know you can do this in Salesforce? Well, you can! Here’s how:


              Step 1: Enable Salesforce Content Pack Creation

              This is one of those things that is not yet fully enabled in Lightning, so switch to Salesforce Classic (click your avatar in the upper right, then hit Switch to Salesforce Classic). Next: 

              • Go to Setup.

              • In the search box, type Content, which will return Salesforce CRM Content under Build > Customize > Salesforce Files > Settings.
              • Click the Edit button, then tick all the boxes.

              You’ve now enabled Salesforce Content for your organization. Next step is to enable delivery outside your organization.

              Step 2: Enable Salesforce Content Deliveries 

              In Setup, type Content Deliveries into the Search box, then:

              • Click on Content Deliveries and Public Links
              • Click Edit, then tick all three boxes that appear.
              • Finally, tick the radio button that says password not required.

              Terrific. You’ve now enabled the creation of public links (URLs) to content, either individually or in a “content pack.” Next we’ll create some content, put it in a library, and give users access to the library.

              Step 3: Add Files and Create Salesforce Libraries and Content Packs

              This is reasonably intuitive and best done in Salesforce Classic, so click your avatar in the upper right and click switch to Salesforce Classic. Then:

              • Click the + sign in the navigation bar (next to Contacts Accounts Leads etc.).
              • Select Libraries. Add a few files from your computer to Libraries.
              • Click Create New, then Content Pack.
              • Drag and drop the files you want into the content pack.
              • Add the users you want to share this library content with, and give them access levels within the library (Viewer, Author, or Library Administrator).

              Next, we’ll make sure the users we’ve added to our library have permissions to deliver the library content.

               
               
               

              Step 4: Ensure Library Users Have Permissions to Send Content

              Now, we need to make sure the users in our library can actually send the content in it (yes, Salesforce takes a pretty locked-down approach to security). Here are the steps:

              • In Classic, go to Setup, then type Content Permissions.
              • Up will pop a Library Permissions dialogue, allowing you to set permissions for Viewers, Authors, and Library Administrators.
              • Make sure the Add Content, Attach or Share Content, and Deliver Content boxes are ticked.
               
               

              For good measure, you could also create a permission set allowing users to deliver content outside of specific libraries. To do this:

              • In Setup, go to Users, then Permission Sets, then click New.
              • Name your permission set.
              • Near the bottom of the next screen, click System Permissions.
              • Then tick the boxes for Create Content Deliveries, Create Public Links, and Select Files from Salesforce.
              • Save, then click Manage Assignments and assign to your users.
               
               
               

              Step 5: Send a Content Pack to a Prospect

              Finally. We’re ready to send our content pack to a prospect. All this one-time setup work has made it easy for sales reps to actually share relevant content:

              • Return to Libraries.
              • Click the content you are interested in sharing, then click details to open the File Sharing Settings window in the upper left.
              • Click share via link.
              • Copy the link, and paste it into an email to one of your contacts.
               
               
               

              Step 6: Track Content Views

              There’s a pretty big benefit at the end of all this work. The Content Pack is delivered in a link, allowing easy transmission of large files, which prospects can then choose to download or not, as they wish. Because the Content Pack is delivered as a web page URL, it is also easy to track the number of times a prospect has viewed our content, and when they viewed it (just like Google Analytics can track hits to a web page).

              This allows sales reps to follow-up with the most interested prospects, on a timely basis. All that’s required is for your Salesforce Administrator to add the Content Deliveries Related List to the Contacts page layout. In Salesforce Classic, you can then see who has viewed your content and how many times. Here are the views in the Contact record “Heather Simmons,” in our client’s Salesforce, showing I’ve viewed each of the content packs 5 times:

              There you have it. Salesforce content management, integrated with Salesforce customer relationship management. See how easy that was?
